Swimming as Exercise
We all enjoy hanging out by the pool and relaxing, but there is another great use for that pool…exercise! The benefits of swimming are abundant for the body and mind and can be a great alternative to the treadmill or elliptical.
The biggest draw to swimming is that it’s low impact. Meaning there isn’t a ton of force when you hit the bottom of the pool verses running or jumping on solid ground. Less stress on your joints is always a good thing!
CARDIORESPIRATORY & MUSCLE MASS
Swimming will also improve your cardiorespiratory health and build muscle mass. This will improve your endurance and you will see toning and growth of your muscles.
PERFECT FOR INJURIES
A lot of people with injuries turn to swimming to keep up with their fitness. Because of the resistance in the water you are able to exercise even when injured.
Exercising in the pool can be a family affair! Get the kids in there with you, and maybe even invite grandma and grandpa. It’s a physical activity that everyone can enjoy together.
